“BIAK” by Clarisse Pastor-Medina (part 1)

“My art is a way for my heart to speak, my little way of telling my own truths. So please don’t just look. Listen.”

This is the first of a 2-part series that features Clarisse’s collection of coffee paintings entitled BIAK. Coffee is her favorite medium because it is easily accessible, practical and natural. More importantly, it presents many beautiful shades of brown, just like Filipinos, which gives a painting that overall sepia effect, the color of nostalgia — something she is constantly flooded with.

Clarisse Pastor-Medina was born and raised in the Philippines and migrated to America by sweet serendipity. Currently, home is the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and three American Bully dogs. She juggles her time between her small art business and a full-time nutraceutical job, which she is striving to grow away from to become a full-time artist.
