A Seaside Soirée

Deauville, the glamorous Normandy coast resort, stole our hearts with its chic vibe. Our stay at the Normandy Barrière, a 5-star icon since 1912, was a dream come true. Marco, the planner, picked it for its Belle Époque charm and proximity to the famous Planches. Eleni, the storyteller, was drawn to the Casino Barrière and the town’s photogenic allure.

Our Coastal Haven

The hotel’s half-timbered facade and manicured gardens welcomed us like a scene from a French film. Our room, with its nautical decor and sea-view balcony, was pure romance. Marco loved the complimentary champagne, while Eleni planned to capture the sunrise over the English Channel. The hotel’s history—hosting stars like Coco Chanel—added a layer of intrigue.

Casino Thrills

The Casino Barrière Deauville, steps from the hotel, was a glittering highlight. Its elegant gaming floor buzzed with excitement, offering roulette, blackjack, and poker. Eleni’s intuition shone at the roulette table, while I (Marco) got hooked on blackjack’s strategic depth. The casino’s theater hosted a jazz performance that evening, which we enjoyed with cocktails, soaking in the lively atmosphere.

Dining and Exploring

Dinner at Les Bains was a culinary delight—Eleni savored a seafood platter with lobster and oysters, while I opted for a tender steak au poivre, paired with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. The next day, we strolled the Planches, Deauville’s iconic boardwalk, where Eleni photographed the colorful beach huts. We browsed local boutiques, picked up fresh pastries at the market, and visited the Deauville Racecourse for a glimpse of its equestrian charm.
