A Tropical Paradise
Goa’s sun-kissed shores and vibrant energy were calling, and our stay at the Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa was a dream. As Marco and Eleni, we were ready for a blend of luxury and adventure. Marco, the planner, chose this 16th-century fort-turned-resort for its history and proximity to Goa’s floating casinos. Eleni, the storyteller, was eager to capture the Arabian Sea’s sparkle and the resort’s tropical vibe.
Our Coastal Retreat
Perched on Sinquerim Beach, the Taj Fort Aguada blends Portuguese heritage with modern elegance. Our sea-view cottage, nestled among palm trees, featured a private veranda and plush interiors. Marco geeked out over the fort’s history—once a defense against Dutch invaders—while Eleni photographed the sunset, the sky ablaze with orange and pink. A welcome tray of Goan sweets like bebinca was a delicious touch, sparking a playful debate over our favorite.
Casino Nights
A short drive took us to the Deltin Royale, one of Goa’s premier floating casinos on the Mandovi River. The ship’s glitzy interior, with live music and sparkling chandeliers, was electrifying. We tried roulette, where Eleni’s lucky streak had us cheering, and I (Marco) enjoyed blackjack’s strategic thrill. The buffet, featuring Goan fish curry and tandoori prawns, was a feast, and we danced to Bollywood beats under the stars.
Dining and Exploring
Dinner at the resort’s Morisco restaurant was a highlight—Eleni savored a spicy prawn balchão, while I indulged in a tender lamb vindaloo, paired with a crisp Kingfisher beer. The next day, we explored Candolim Beach, where Eleni snapped photos of fishing boats and Marco mapped a route to the nearby Aguada Fort. We also visited a local spice plantation, learning about cardamom and turmeric, a nod to our love for cultural immersion.
Why We Loved It
Taj Fort Aguada and Goa’s casinos offered a perfect mix of relaxation and excitement. The resort’s charm, the casino’s buzz, and Goa’s vibrant culture made it a trip to cherish. It’s ideal for travelers seeking sun, sea, and a touch of glamour.
