A Wild Pursuit

Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh promised the thrill of a lifetime, and as Marco and Eleni, we were ready to chase it. Known for its high tiger density, this park was a bucket-list stop. Marco, the planner, organized our safari to maximize wildlife sightings, while Eleni, the storyteller, was eager to capture the jungle’s raw beauty and share its tales.

The Safari Experience

Our early-morning jeep safari in the Tala zone was electric with anticipation. The park’s rugged terrain—sal forests, grassy meadows, and rocky hills—felt alive. Our guide, a local expert, pointed out fresh pugmarks, and soon, we spotted a tigress lounging by a stream. Eleni’s camera zoomed in, capturing her amber eyes, while Marco whispered facts about Bandhavgarh’s 50+ tigers. The moment was surreal, a privilege we’ll never forget.

More Than Tigers

Beyond tigers, we saw langur monkeys swinging through trees, spotted deer grazing, and a crested serpent eagle soaring overhead. Marco noted the park’s biodiversity in his journal, while Eleni photographed a vibrant kingfisher perched on a branch. We paused at the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort, a 10th-century ruin atop a hill, where crumbling temples added a mystical vibe. The view of the park’s expanse was breathtaking.

Local Life

After the safari, we visited a nearby village, where locals shared stories of living alongside wildlife. Eleni bought a handwoven scarf, and Marco tried his hand at making roti with a family. Dinner at our lodge featured regional dishes—Eleni loved the spicy baingan bharta, while I savored dal tadka with steaming rice. The starry night sky, free of city lights, was a perfect end to our day.
